2. Description of the Platform
PROBr is a digital platform designed to connect individuals interested in participating in research with legitimate research organizations conducting studies.
The platform enables:
• Individuals to discover research opportunities and express interest in studies
• Research organizations to post study opportunities and review interested participants
• Researchers to connect and collaborate with other researchers
• Communication between researchers and participants regarding study participation
PROBr does not conduct research studies, act as a clinical site, or collect medical records.
PROBr facilitates study discovery, participant interest registration, and recruitment coordination only.
Any medical screening, eligibility determination, consent, or study participation occurs directly between the participant and the research organization.
3. Eligibility
To use PROBr you must:
• Be at least 18 years old
• Provide accurate registration information
• Use the platform in compliance with applicable laws and regulations
PROBr may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these requirements.
4. Participant Accounts
Participants may create an account to browse and express interest in research opportunities.
Participants may provide the following information when registering:
• Full name
• Email address
• Location
• Race or ethnicity
• Research interests
Participants may express interest in studies posted on the platform.
When a participant expresses interest in a study:
• The participant will initially appear in the researcher’s Pending participant list
• Participants remain de-identified to researchers during this stage
During the Pending stage, researchers may only view limited information such as:
• Participant ID
• Age range
• General location
• Non-sensitive demographic information
The participant’s full identity is revealed only if the researcher approves the participant for the study.
Participants may also withdraw interest from studies at any time.
PROBr does not collect or store medical records, diagnoses, or clinical screening information.
Any health screening or eligibility evaluation occurs directly between the participant and the research organization, typically through external systems or direct communication.
5. Researcher Accounts
Researchers and research organizations may create accounts to post study opportunities and recruit participants.
To maintain trust and safety, PROBr may request verification materials such as:
• Institutional affiliation
• Organizational documentation (e.g., proof of incorporation)
Researchers may:
• Post study advertisements
• Review participants who express interest in studies
• Move participants through recruitment stages (Pending, Approved, or Rejected)
• Communicate with participants regarding study logistics
• Connect and communicate with other researchers on the platform
Researchers are responsible for ensuring that their studies comply with all applicable:
• regulatory requirements
• ethics approvals (including IRB or equivalent)
• participant consent procedures
PROBr does not verify ethical approval for every study and relies on researchers and organizations to comply with applicable research regulations.
6. Messaging and Communication
PROBr includes an internal messaging system designed to facilitate communication related to study participation.
Researcher Messaging
To help maintain responsible data practices:
• Researchers communicate with participants using preset message templates provided by the platform.
Preset messages may include communication such as:
• Requests to complete eligibility screening forms
• Requests to provide contact details for study coordination
• Scheduling inquiries for clinic visits or study appointments
• Providing clinic location details or study instructions
• Confirming participation logistics
Preset messaging helps ensure communication remains focused on study coordination and recruitment logistics.
Participant Messaging
Participants may respond to researcher messages using free-text responses.
Participants are encouraged not to share sensitive medical or personal information within the messaging system.
Screening and Medical Information
PROBr does not conduct eligibility screening within the platform.
Researchers may direct participants to external screening forms, institutional portals, or phone communication to determine eligibility.
Any medical or health information shared during screening occurs outside the PROBr platform.
Researcher Collaboration
Researchers may communicate with other researchers through the platform.
Messaging Misuse
Messaging must not be used for:
• harassment or abuse
• spam or unrelated solicitation
• misleading or fraudulent recruitment
• attempts to collect sensitive medical data through the platform
PROBr reserves the right to monitor, restrict, or suspend messaging functionality where misuse is suspected.
7. Researcher Content and Publications
Researchers may share:
• Study information
• Recruitment materials
• Professional updates
Publications and academic materials may be shared only through private messaging between researchers.
Public posting of publications on the platform feed is not currently supported.
Users remain responsible for the accuracy and legality of any content they share.
